About Dr. Lapuerta

Dr. Lapuerta has 25 years of experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, leading teams and building capabilities to develop and market new medicines. He has strong backgrounds in clinical development, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, biostatistics, and health economics. He has collaborated extensively with marketing and sales teams, and he interacts frequently with physicians, patients, and investors.

Most recently, he spent almost 10 years at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals enhancing its capabilities in drug development, medical affairs, safety, and other areas. Over that time Lexicon obtained substantial new investments based on pipeline progress. And he obtained approval of two new medications, one in oncology and another in diabetes.

Previously he was a vice president at Bristol‐Myers Squibb and served as Chief Medical Officer at Cogentus Pharmaceuticals. He has approximately 100 publications on a wide range of topics in healthcare, including contributions to both the New England Journal of Medicine and the Wall Street Journal. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Lapuerta lives near Princeton, New Jersey with his wife and children, and he is active as a volunteer supporting local non‐profit organizations.
